Microsoft Security Essentials Vista 7 provides real time protection against malware, spyware, spam, viruses, and other malicious programs.
The software is free for any machine running the Windows Vista operating system. It's automatically kept up to date through regular PC reboots.
During normal operation, Security Essentials runs continuously in the background to safeguard the user against common browser-based attacks. The program performs multiple daily scans and monitors for threats found in link clicks, downloads, and email.
It's recommended that users first uninstall any third-party firewalls and anti-viral software before installing Security Essentials. Other programs may interfere with the ability of the built-in program to run properly.
Microsoft Security Essentials requires at least 200 MG of available hard disk space, in addition to a CPU clock speed of 1.0 GHz or higher. Systems should also have at least 1 gigabyte of RAM available for efficient running.
